Summary of content:

Since 2010, WHM has been delivering hilarious discussions of iconic blockbusters, notorious bombs, and obscure oddities from all corners of the modern cinema. Rather than just obsessively going through every single scene looking for a plot hole or continuity error that you can drive a truck through, the show offers vast, imaginative, and uproarious conversations about why certain movies work and others very much do not.

On their main feed, a new episode of the show is released every week, and features 4 reoccurring hosts, along with occasional special guests. While Spotify features a variety of films the team get stuck into their patron features monthly episodes on beloved animated TV shows and specials, the original Star Trek series and Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Star Wars canon of characters, and actual good movies, as well as access to their archive of over 100 early episodes, dozens of one-off specials, and quarterly commentary tracks that you can sync up with movies ranging from Predator and Commando to

Twilight and the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. As the show continues to grow, the WHM gang is continuing to add special one-offs and miniseries to their Patreon, including The Mandalorian Half-Hour, focused on all eight episodes of the first season of the titular Disney+ series, and Making It So, a Picard recap series.

Most notable/funny/moving/shocking moments

Episode 491: Shrek the third – In this hilarious episode the hosts make it absolutely clear that they were not fans of the third instalment of the Shrek movies with one stating “dude I fell asleep watching this film, like how do you fall asleep to a 90 min. film”. In the episode however, the hosts deliver a fun bit of trivia whilst mocking the scene in which ‘Prince Charming’ is performing in a rundown theatre one member of the audience is using coconuts to make the sound of horse’s hooves (a gag first shown in Monty Python and the Holy Grail). “According to Wikipedia Eric Idle, who is in this movie was so fucking furious they used a Monty Python gag that he got up, walked out of the theatre at the premier announcing his intent to sue the producers of Shrek.”

Episode 523: A Nightmare On Elm Street: When discussing this horror classic the hosts discuss a mysterious poster on the wall of the main character Nancy which has a “bunch of cats in a trolley as a poster”. “And it’s like where is this coming from, is this an in joke kinda thing like let’s hide something cute in a horrible movie but it’s just I don’t understand it whys there a poster of a bunch of cats in a San Francisco trolley, where did it come from!”

Opinion

This podcast was one of my personal favourites, I am a massive movie nerd and to hear these guys pick apart popular movies was hilarious and entertaining. Every episode is like going to the bar and getting into a deeply involved discussion about your favourite/least favourite movies. Each episode is always funny and accessible – even when I disagree with the guys about a movie or a point, I still see their point and enjoy the humour.
